The third edition of the ALAS-IDB Awards was held on November 10th 2015 in Washington DC, United States. Fonseca, a renowned Colombian singer, marked the opening of the event talking about the importance of early childhood and highlighting his admiration for the philanthropic work of Shakira, founding member of ALAS Foundation.
For the third year, ALAS Foundation and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) awarded the best initiatives working for early childhood development in Latin American and the Caribbean. The winners stood out among more than 1,200 nominations, thanks to their work, perseverance and commitment with early childhood development.
The awards were given by the IDB President Luis Alberto Moreno, the Latin Grammy winner Fonseca, the American actor Dale Godboldo and the Executive Director of ALAS Foundation Juan Antonio Pungiluppi. Shakira participated by sending recorded greetings to the winners and promoting pre-event announcements.
The ceremony was held during the seminar “All Children count: early mathematics and science education in Latin American and the Caribbean” and the main sponsors were: ALAS Foundation, Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Santillana Foundation, CARGILL, Avianca and Sesame Workshop.
Finally, is important to stress that about 350 people attended the event and 958 watched it online, getting 735 streams in Spanish and 223 in English.
